MR. BRIGHT EYES

Today Witt has already taken over 12 ounces with at least 2 more feeds to go! He was not on the heart medicine for 24 hours and had his first smaller dose earlier today. We will see if that has any affect on his eating.

At home and feeling good!

Hello! I've been following Witt's story for a little while... can't remember how I found him, but never mind! I'm glad he's doing so well - he really is a cutie. I just wanted to say thank you for a really useful bit of information you gave me - my son, Charlie, is five, and was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, an incurable cardiac condition which means he only has half a heart. He has been on captopril and then enalapril (both very similar medications) since he was 5 months old, after his second heart surgery. We have ALWAYS struggled with his eating - he never seems to be hungry, and eats incredibly slowly. A lot of heart kids struggle with their food intake because eating tires them out, but to be honest, Charlie's always been so well, and able to run around with his friends, that we couldn't see why eating would be so difficult for him. His enalapril is made up specially for him, so we never get any of the leaflets with side effects on in the box, and none of the doctors have EVER mentioned that enalapril can act as an appetite suppressant. We knew it could affect the way foods taste, but not that it could cause loss of appetite... so thank you for putting this information out there! Everything suddenly makes sense! Feel free to check out Charlie's blog - we always love having new visitors! We'll keep checking in on little Witt, and will keep him in our prayers.
With very best wishes from us all in Cardiff, UK.

"My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." Psalm 139:15-16

Witt is precious in His sight...and in ours! Love, Cadou
